THE NEW RAS

The EFC technology is unique in several aspects

  • Fish welfare

  • Eliminate escape

  • Feed supply through circular aquaculture

  • Consumer safety through traceability

EFCs concept reduces climate gas emissions from fish farming, directly by CO2 capture, as well as indirectly by eliminating the need for import of soy.

New RAS design gives several advantages

The next generation RAS consists of roof covered independent tanks (IPU) and with in-tank bio filters, connected sludge handling and CO2 capture. This design has several advantages:

  • Consequences of an unwanted incident, will be isolated to one tank only and a loss of one tank of biomass.

  • Monitoring and control systems will be more precise.

  • The tracing system will be able to identify small batches will improve precision and food safety.

  • Modular and scalable design that generates cash flow from each module built.

  • Eliminates the need for capital-intensive industrial buildings, and a simplified infrastructure reduces construction costs with 30% to 50%.

  • Area between the tanks can be used for other purposes, such as agriculture and open landscape.

The EFC RAS concept based on seperate tanks offer significant advantages. As we build each tank consecutively, we can start farming in the first one, providing early cash flow and limits risk.

EFC will set a new standard in cost-effective production, food safety, fish welfare, and carbon footprint, without any negative climate impacts.

CONSUMER SAFETY THROUGH TRACEABILITY

EFC has obtained exclusivity from Queen’s University in Belfast for using a biomarker in salmon farming that traces the consumer ready fish fillet. Since all relevant data is handle and transfer in blockchain format, the information cannot be tampered. This certifies food safety and correct information about the fish welfare.

OXYGEN AND HYDROGEN PRODUCTION

The combined fish farm and protein production require hydrogen and oxygen, which are provided from electrolysis of water. EFC is working closely with HydrogenPro, who delivers new cost-effective systems related to power consumption. From Norwegian hydroelectric power we can make green hydrogen and oxygen.

Electrolysis of water produces enough oxygen to fully supply both the fish and the microorganisms, and the cooling water controls the temperature of the total system.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Mass data analyzes and artificial intelligence will be used to find connections between growth, genetics, quality of feed and fish throughout the rearing phase. Data will be collected automatically from sensors, combined with recorded data to uncover connections, and thus ensure the best possible production and fish welfare.
